SPEED DATING IN CHICAGO, IL

Hello Chicago!

You know, when Jen and I started the NYC speed-dating business, we were trying to come up with appropriate slogans and mission statements.  Our first one was this - "For the busy, the beleaguered, and those with a healthy fear of dating at work".  This was directly driven from our state of mind at the time - two overworked single professionals, one banker and one lawyer, slightly bitter about the long hours, and both burned from personal experience in the "fear of dating at work" department.

We realized that this was a little negative and cynical, and actually, we had both had a huge amount of fun dating in New York City.  So we came up with "Fast.  Effective.  Even Fun", and as a mission statement "To provide busy single professionals with a relaxing, fun and effective way to find their next fabulous date".

Our aim is not to get too carried away that the marriage thing (you know, fuzzy pictures on the site of a happy pair cutting the cake).  Though ultimately that's what many of us would like, it doesn't mean that there isn't many other reasons to go speed-dating, and it has to be recognized that people have different goals.  Perhaps Jason has just come out of a long relationship, and wants to get out dating again.  Perhaps Sarah is new to Chicago, and wants to make new friends.  Perhaps Rachel is at the Globetrotters event as she hopes to meet a travel partner for her Kilimanjaro trek next year.  And perhaps Mark is really looking to find Miss Right to settle down with.  That's the great thing about speed-dating - put enough people in a room together, and you'll start seeing goals matching up.

And why come to Chicago?  Jennifer studied in Chicago, and has a lot of fond memories of the Chicago night life and dating.  It's a city we both enjoy as much as New York.
